Happy Halloween!

A rabbit lounging about in the leaves near the entrance to the McPherson Library. Instead of heading out for trick-or-treating right at dusk, come do some bunny watching! Rabbits are most active at dawn and dusk. Make sure to keep that in mind if you ever want to get a pet rabbit of your own.

Also, please make sure your candy rappers and beverage containers get thrown in the proper receptacles. Those items don't make great snacks for rabbits.

Devoted Bunny Lover in Victoria

Wow! This woman is amazing! I admire this woman's heart and tenacity. We can't all single-handedly save the rabbits on the UVic campus like Leslie Sanford, but we can all help support our local humane societies and animal shelters by donating money, food, or supplies. Check your area to find out how to donate to a local shelter, humane society, or check online for how to donate to the SPCA.

On a Blustery Day, the Bunnies Still Play

Here's a warren of rabbits behind the McPherson library. Even though it's cold and windy outside, they brave the elements to help keep the lawn in check ;-).

As I mentioned in the last post, this is an exccellent place for bunny watching, no matter the weather!

Can You Find the Bunny?

This was taken behind the McPherson Library. If you are on campus, this is a great location to bunny-watch. There are benches as well as tiered cement seating, and a man-made pond. It's a lovely place to sit and read or have a snack, and tons of bunnies are always frolicking around.

Two of my Favorite Baby Bunnies!

These little cuties are two of my favorites. I discovered them in the bushes outside of the Student union building. They are so adorable! Don't you just want to pick them up and take them home?

Tip for taking pictures of baby bunnies: Be Patient! Most UVic bunnies are pretty fearless around people, but the babies are skittish. You need to be willing to hang out near them quietly and calmly with your camera to get some good pics.

Introduction

For those of you who don't know, the University of Victoria on Vancouver Island has a large population of wild, adorable, friendly bunnies living on campus. This blog will highlight some of my favorite moments of bunny watching on campus!

Hope you enjoy!
